By all measures, the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show that took place in Las Vegas this month was a huge success, despite the dark clouds of a recession and slow economic recovery. Roughly 120,000 industry professionals attended the multi-day event, which is up from last year (about 113,000), but still less than previous years. More than 2,500 technology companies introduced more than 20,000 new products at the show, according to event management. These ranged from widgets and wires to some serious 3D computers and displays.
Some of the hottest areas included netbooks, eReaders, tablet PCs, smartphones and even 3D notebooks and gaming systems. Nearly every manufacturer had a ‘green strategy’ to save the planet and energy costs for consumers, some more real than others. More than 5,000 reporters, editors and bloggers also made the trek to CES, including the entire staff of TechnologyGuide.com.

Be sure to check out our extensive coverage from the show floor as well as our wrap-up reports to keep up on the latest technology developments and plans for 2010.
It has only been about a week or so since Apple unveiled it's controversial iPad and at least one thing is clear: Everybody wants to know more.
Is the iPad a true tablet PC, a colorful eReader, or a prototype of things to come? More than 2,100 readers responded to a survey we ran across multiple TechnologyGuide sites, and it looks like opinions are pretty evenly split. About 25 percent of respondents think the iPad will be a flop, 25 percent say it will attract a following, and about a third say it's "nothing to write home about". Roughly 15 percent think the iPad is "a sure hit."
Check out the results of our survey on NotebookReview.com.

MSI's newest netbook, the Wind U135, has nearly an identical hardware configuration as the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE, which NBR lauded for its 12-hour battery life. So how does the Wind U135 compare with ASUS's stingy power consumer and other 10-inch netbooks in its class?
NotebookReview.com's Kevin OBrien took the MSI Wind U135 through the paces, and while he found plenty to like about Atom-powered portable, a handful of glaring issues detracted from an otherwise capable device.
The introduction of the Apple iPad has definitely created a strong buzz factor in the nascent tablet PC market, and will no doubt spark new activity and development in the field. It remains to be seen, however, whether Apple's slick and compact system will be perceived more as an entertainment and eReader device than a true multi-talented and flexible tablet PC.
A lot of companies use the Consumer Electronics Show as a platform to showcase different concept technologies to the public.
This year's event was no exception, with computer maker MSI demonstrating an all-in-one desktop featuring built-in 3D technology. Like most systems taking the 3D route, the MSI desktop requires users to wear special glasses, although the system does offer a wireless keyboard and mouse that does away with the wired tethers of most systems.
Read more about MSI's concept PC and other CES news from DesktopReview.com Editor J.R. Nelson, who reports from the CES show floor.
HP and Lenovo made the biggest splash in terms of notebooks at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, with the fiesty maker of the popular Thinkpad line of business portables determined to grab a larger market share among consumers.
Lenovo's IdeaPad S10 Tablet is an Intel Atom-based netbook that was a particular standout because of its 10-inch touchscreen that rotates 180 degrees in either direction. As expected, the small system's keyboard is second to none in this form factor, says NotebookReview.com Editor Jerry Jackson in his look at the best and worst laptops at this year's event.
Check out Jerry's First Look review and photos.

Many of the big names at CES 2010 are taking a shot at the emerging eReader market, with Sony flipping its page on its own Daily Edition.
All of the major contenders are nestled in a corner of the Las Vegas Convention Center called the eBook TechZone, CES 2010s answer to a book nook (with apologies to Barnes & Nobles new device that was not at the show). This technology-infused reading room features literally hundreds of e-reader devices from dozens of manufacturers.
While some of the devices, like Plastic Logics QUE proReader, may not have the name recognition of the Amazon Kindle, they present a worthy challenge to the current e-reading king.
TechnologyGuide editor Jamison Cush was at CES to find out which eReader is set to dethrone the Kindle.
Green initiatives and energy conservation were a key topic at CES 2010 in Las Vegas, as vendors like Toshiba wrapped green strategies into the messaging at their booths on the show floor, and a raft of other companies demonstrated green and lean products, ranging from netbooks to printers.
The biggest stumbling block, however, may be price of energy-sipping devices since many consumers are reluctant to pay more to save energy and the planet.
Just why prices are high was discussed at CES, as PrinterComparison.com Editor Sarah Meyer reports.
After months of speculation and even a few early units slipped into the hands of a favored few just weeks before the holidays, Google has officially unveiled it's own Google-branded Android smartphone that features a high-resolution AM-OLED screen and a speedy 1GHz processor.

By 2011, mobile workers are expected to account for 73 percent of the total U.S. workforce, according to some market forecasters. This means that more executives, sales people, field force workers and consumers will be using their computers and wireless devices to access remote data bases and information sources than ever before in the history of mobile computing.
As they hop from one wireless hot spot to another, mobile mavens will also rely more on remote access tools that are designed to connect one device to another to duplicate or mirror desktops and make use of applications and data residing on a second device, such as a desktop PC.
We've looked at some of the top remote access tools to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, zeroing in on such things as network performance, security and ease of use. Want to find out which ones are winners and which barely left the starting gate? Check out our comprehensive evaluation and Buyers Guide in NoteBookReview.com.

Google has changed the way the world uses the Web by establishing new boundaries for search engine technology. Now, the company is trying to change the way we all use our mobile phone, with the introduction of it's Android operating system.
Although still relatively new, Android has generated a significant buzz in both the consumer and business markets and is already bumping heads with the innovative iPhone. At the very least, the introduction of Android and phones based on this OS has presented some new and exciting options for people shopping for a new mobile phone or upgrade.
TechnologyGuide.com has created Android Watch to pull together important developments as well as Android device reviews, help you learn more about the various options available, and keep tabs on the Android revolution.
