The Samsung NX2000 is a compact mirrorless interchangeable lens camera designed for entry- to mid-level photographers who are looking to use a mirrorless camera. The camera features a 20.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and has an MSRP of $650 at the time of the review. The NX2000 is 4.7 x 2.5 x 1.4 inches and weighs 0.5 pounds without the battery or memory card.
DigitalCameraReview notes that the camera is comfortable to carry for a day of shooting. The device has minimal physical buttons and offers an almost entirely touchscreen experience. It also has a hotshoe that supports a detachable flash, which comes with the camera. The NX2000 comes in black, white and pink.
The NX2000 does not have an optical viewfinder, but rather a 3.7-inch screen with 1,152K resolution, which DCR notes is “very sharp.” The camera has four pages of menus and DCR said the user interface is well designed and easy to navigate. The screen is prone to some glare in direct sunlight.
DCR noted the NX2000 has a fast start-up time and the shutter lag is almost non-existent. The autofocus is quick and the camera has a manual AF option. A single battery charge is good for 340 shots and the battery is charged in-camera. The NX2000 kit comes with a 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, which DCR noted produced good quality images with little distortion and decent color saturation. There also 12 interchangeable lenses compatible with the NX2000. The camera has both Wi-Fi and NFC, which DCR notes are easy to use and seamless.
The NX2000 shoots HD video in 1920×1080 at 30 frames per second. Audio is recorded using the in-camera stereo microphone. DCR found the video feature captures accurate colors and sharp subjects. In terms of image quality, DCR was “very happy,” noting colors are well represented and there is little noise through ISO 1600. The NX2000 has eight white balance settings and a multitude of creative shooting modes.
Overall, DCR was impressed with the Samsung NX2000 and noted it is a high quality camera for a reasonable price. DCR was impressed with the image quality, Wi-Fi connectivity, and quick autofocus, but was disappointed in the lack of dedicated buttons and dial and external battery charger. Buyers may also want to consider the NX1100 and the NX300, the big and little brothers to the NX2000 to determine exactly which camera is best for them.
