The iPhone 4S is out, and many Apple fanatics are still giddy about their new smart companions. While most of that joy is justified – it’s a great phone, after all – there’s at least one aspect that’s giving iUsers daily fits of rage: the 4S’ subpar battery life. Apple is promising to fix the issue in a future iOS update, but in the meantime, Brighthand is here to give users some simple tips and tricks to help conserve that precious charge for as long as possible.
The most preferred solution to the 4S’ battery woes thus far has to do with the iPhone’s clock, which has apparently been set to check the phone’s current time zone too often for its own good. Going to Settings > Location Services > System Services and shutting off the “Setting Time Zone” function has reportedly done wonders for many users, even if it does mean temporarily not being able to know when they have switched time zones. Oh well.
Other potential work-arounds are also easy to do. Simple things like turning off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when they’re not needed can save a fair amount of charge over time, while dropping Auto-Brightness and setting the phone’s backlight to a more efficient level can help too. Likewise, those who aren’t heavy email users will live without the Push email function, although that’ll probably be unacceptable for those who need to do business on the go.
There are other methods to utilize, but to get the full rundown, head over to Brighthand and check out its complete How To guide for increasing the battery life of the iPhone 4S.
