Absolute Software and Samsung have announced that LoJack, a popular theft prevention and recovery software for automobiles and laptops, is baked into the Samsung Galaxy S4 and will launch early this summer.
Announced at CTIA 2013, the software can be activated for $29.99 per year. The LoJack software for mobile devices is embedded into the firmware of the Galaxy S4, meaning users do not have to download an app that a thief could then just delete upon swiping the device.
LoJack allows users to locate their devices, lock them remotely and delete sensitive files. Additionally, LoJack’s Investigations and Recovery Team work with local law enforcement officials to track down the perpetrator and return the device to its rightful owner.
Absolute Software, which has a good track record with their LoJack for Laptops offering, is jumping into new territory, offering the software for mobile devices for the first time. However, the company seems to be confident in its abilities, standing behind a $1,000 guarantee.
