Acer hopes to shake up the industry when it comes to laptop design. The company announced a new laptop this morning, the Aspire R7, at a press event in New York City.
The Aspire R7 has an easel-like display, which is designed to increase the comfort and effectiveness of using touch on the device. The R7 can be used in the form of a traditional notebook and users are also able to swivel the screen to sit on top of the keyboard for use in standard tablet form. However, the hinge on the notebook, which Acer calls Ezel, is located in the center of the bottom of the screen, allowing the screen to be lifted up, reminiscent of an iMac desktop screen, but with the keyboard attached.
Acer’s new Ultrabook will be available in the US on May 14 at Best Buy. Pricing information has not been revealed at the time of this writing.
