Starting on May 15, Aereo will offer just two monthly plans to subscribers. The base plan will still cost $8 per month and provide 20 hours of DVR storage space, but the $12 monthly plan has been boosted slightly to now give 60 hours of DVR storage instead of the usual 40. The current $1 daily plan and $80 yearly plan, meanwhile, will no longer be offered.
Subscribers of any plan will still get their first month of service for free, and Aereo says that the new plans will apply to any subscribers from now on. Current $12 per month subscribers will get their 40 hours of storage bumped up to 60 automatically.
As a reminder, Aereo is currently only offered in the New York City area. The Boston region will get theirs on May 15, while the company plans to launch in 21 other markets by the end of the year as well. The service lets users stream broadcast TV across a number of platforms, including iOS devices, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Apple TV and Roku devices.
