Apple has just announced that the latest version of its OS X software, Mavericks (10.9) will be made available to Apple Mac users as a free download via the App Store.
OS X Mavericks promises greater speed and stability, in addition to better multitasking management, and a rejiggered notification system with inline responses to messages. Apple also touted Mavericks as being optimized for multiple monitor setups, and updated the OS X Mavericks apps, bringing them more in line with Apple’s new flat and colorful aesthetic, as well as aligning them for better iOS 7 syncing and cross-functionality. Mavericks also brings iBooks and Maps to the Mac.
The free Mavericks download will be available for all Mac users running OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) or later, including lion (10.7) and Mountain Lion (10.8).
