Boxee TV: Broadcast TV, Internet Apps, and DVR Service in One Device

Boxee has announced Boxee TV, a live TV streaming device that will give users access to basic cable channels as well as streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix. A TV tuner will be built into the box, which will allow users to get basic cable channels in HD over the air and via unencrypted cable. Boxee will even offer an unlimited DVR service for $15 a month; it will have two tuners, so users will be able to watch a show while recording another show. DVR recordings will be stored online and will be accessible to users on their computers and devices. Netflix, VUDU, Pandora, YouTube, and Vimeo will come installed on the Boxee TV and more apps will be made available down the line. The Boxee TV starts shipping November 1 and will cost $99.
