Apple released information to registered developers regarding mobile device management and mobile application management improvements in the forthcoming iOS 7. While all the details can’t be confirmed, it is clear that there will be a significant effect on the mobile management industry.
“Managed Open In”
A new feature called “Managed Open In”, as Apple has dubbed it, will let IT departments configure settings to keep corporate data from opening in personal apps and vise versa.
“Per App VPN”
The per app VPN will connect apps to a VPN automatically upon launching. This will keep employee’s personal data safe while also ensuring that all corporate information is completed over the VPN.
“Enterprise Single Sign On”
With iOS 7, a user’s credentials will be authenticated across multiple apps, corporate and personal. When enabled, users will not have to enter their password for each individual app.
There’s much more to Apple’s new MDM features, including license management and third-party app data protection, which TechnologyGuide sister site, BrianMadden.com explores in detail.
