TechnologyGuide has raved about Leap Motion and its super accurate, hands-free Leap Motion Controller in the past, but up until now there haven\’t been any pricing or availability details readily available. Today, though, the California-based startup revealed that the its tiny motion control device will begin shipping to pre-ordering customers on May 13, just about a year after it was first unveiled.
Any other U.S. customers interested in motion controlling their computers will be able to pick up the Leap Motion Controller at their local Best Buy, which will exclusively stock the device starting on May 19. Leap Motion is still taking pre-orders for the Controller through its website, although its price has jumped up to $80 – $10 more than it was before. As of today, Best Buy is hosting pre-orders for the device through its website as well.
The Leap Motion Controller probably won’t have much of a chance if it doesn’t get a solid stable of apps behind it, so today Leap Motion also announced its own app store, dubbed Airspace. The company says that Airspace will include a range of gaming, music, productivity, music and other such software, with support from the likes of Disney, The Weather Channel, Autodesk, Corel, Double Fine, ZeptoLab and others already confirmed.
The Leap Motion Controller will work with Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8.
