Thanks to Google, Siri will no longer be the only choice of personal assistant for iOS. With an upcoming Chrome update, iOS users will have access to a Siri surrogate. When users pull up the keyboard on the iPhone while in Chrome, they will be able to opt for Google’s voice search rather than Apple’s via a button above the keyboard.
Those with Siri know that holding a conversation with the robot isn\’t always fruitful, but Google’s search feature will reportedly bring a conversational experience to users. Google’s voice search will allow for follow up questions without having to give details supplied in the initial query.
The update is available now for desktop Chrome users, and there is no word yet on when those with an iOS device will be receive the latest version of Chrome with the voice search feature. In the meantime, iOS users can download Google Now for their Apple device, which brings Google apps to the device as well as a less integrated voice search function.
