Netflix Finally Introduces User Profiles to Its Streaming Service

by Reads (252)

Sharing a Netflix account with the family? Good news, Netflix has finally launched individual user profiles for those with a streaming account. Up until now, multiple users sharing a Netflix account have been limited to one log-in, leading to mixed instant queues and recommendations in one mishmash of a list.

Netflix User ProfilesSubscribers can create up to five separate accounts, which will feature independent instant queues, recently watched lists, and personalized recommendations. Each account can be connected to a separate Facebook account as well, which lets users see what friends are watching and get more recommendations.

Netflix currently allows users to stream on two devices simultaneously, with the option to stream four shows at a time with an upgraded account for $11.99 per month. Currently there is no information as to whether or not the profiles will increase the amount of streaming available at once, or if it will allow for parental controls to be set per user profile.

No official word on when Netflix users can expect to see the feature, but Netflix has stated it will be rolled out out over the next few days on the website, iPad, iPhone, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Apple TV, as well as more recent Smart TV’s and Blu-ray players.
