Nintendo has announced that it no longer plans to produce its original Wii gaming console. Rumors were sparked earlier this month by a message on the Japanese Nintendo website stating that Wii manufacturing would “end soon.” Those rumors have been confirmed by Nintendo, with the same page now confirming the decision.
The Wii originally made its way into homes back in 2006, when it was hailed as the future of gaming thanks to its user friendly motion control technology, which brought in new gamers, including those not inclined to consoles, like seniors.
However, Nintendo has now shifted focus to the Wii U, which could use all the help it can get, as sales number have been less than stellar.
The good news for Wii fans is that Wii games will work on the Wii U, so you don’t have to go without a Super Mario Galaxy fix.
