Consumers ready to go out and purchase a BlackBerry 10 device will have yet another feature to look forward to, as the company has announced that ooVoo will be integrated into RIM’s new platform.
The ooVoo service is a free conference chat platform that allows users to hold multi-person video calls with up to 12 people. The service will work with BlackBerry 10’s calling system and will allow users to switch from a voice call to ooVoo video call quickly.
Because ooVoo is supported by multiple platforms, BlackBerry 10 users will be able to video conference with users on the PC, Mac, Android and iOS platforms, in addition to other BlackBerry 10 users.
The company has not officially announced when the ooVoo app will be available for BlackBerry 10 devices, but said it will be available “later this year.” RIM has not confirmed any specific release dates for BlackBerry 10 devices, although the company is holding events in North America and Europe tomorrow, January 30, where they are set to disclose details of the new operating system and BlackBerry 10 devices.
