Pioneer Announces DVD Navigation Systems With A Slew Of Entertainment Features

Pioneer Electronics announced three new multimedia DVD receivers at CES 2013, aimed at giving users entertainment and smartphone connectivity in their cars. The detachable 7-inch high-resolution WVGA displays on the AVH-X6500DVD, AVH-X7500BT, and AVH-X8500BHS models will give users access to built in services such as; SiriusXM, HD Radio, and Bluetooth technology, as well as access to features on their smartphone.

\"Pioneer\"The DVD receiver navigation systems will feature Pioneer\’s AppRadio Mode, Pioneer\’s MIXTRAX virtual DJ technology, as well as compatibility with the iPhone 4 (and later models) running iOS 6. With Pioneer\’s connectivity kits, which are sold separately, users will be able to connect to an iPhone 5 and control apps on the device with the Apple Lightning adapter accessory (sold separately) and a firmware update that will be made available this spring.

Pioneer\’s AppRadio Mode will be featured on the multimedia DVD receivers, a free service that lets users control compatible third-party apps on an iPhone 4 or later. Bluetooth connectivity will give drivers the ability to have hands-free calling and to display media from compatible phones directly on the navigation unit\’s screen.

The three models will be USB compatible for playback of audio or video media on an external drive as well as DVD/CD playback. The Multimedia DVD receivers from Pioneer will be available in March and will retail for $450 USD for the AVH-X6500DVD, $500 USD for the AVH-X7500BT, and $650 USD for the AVH-X8500BHS.
