Samsung has launched a new iteration of its TecTiles NFC programmable tags, which allow users to automate everyday smartphone functions.
TecTiles 2, the newest version of the TecTiles software, which originally launched last summer, uses NFC (near field communication) technology to allow users to automate smartphone functions. TecTiles 2 are programmable NFC sticker tags, which when used in tandem with the Samsung TecTile app, allows users to program the tag for various functions.
Users can program the stickers to automatically put the phone on mute when entering a meeting, make a call or send a text message, check-in on Foursquare or update a Facebook status.
TecTiles 2 are compatible with all Samsung NFC-enabled Android smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, and are available beginning today at Samsung.com and will be available at major retailers in June. The stickers are priced at $14.99 for a pack of five and the Samsung TecTile mobile app is available as a free download in Google Play, at the time of this writing. The app is compatible with Android 2.3.3 or later.
