Slingbox has announced support for AirPlay and Apple TV, in addition to the Blockbuster On Demand video rental service. The company has also introduced updates to the My Media feature and Slingbox for Web.

Those with a Slingbox 500, Slingbox 350, Slingbox Pro-HD, and Slingbox SOLO as well as a Slingbox iPhone or iPad app can stream via AirPlay to an Apple TV-connected television, basically allowing users to watch one TV on another TV.

Blockbuster On Demand lets users with a subscription to the service search, browse, watch trailers, and rent popular movies to stream and watch instantly via a Slingbox 500.

Along with the addition of Blockbuster On Demand, Slingbox 500 users will also get a new My Media experience, which gives access to photos and videos stored on a USB drive connected to the Slingbox. The SlingPlayer client is also  available for PC and Mac, with iOS and Android versions arriving in the near future. With the desktop and mobile app, users will be able to remotely access content from their personal hard drive.

The Slingbox for Web has added support for Microsoft Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11 as well as for Apple OS X Mavericks and Safari 7.

Users can access the applicable updates today via an upgrade to the latest version 1.6.228 firmware. However, most devices will automatically update, unless the feature is disabled.
