\"\"Those in the market for smartphones or mobile devices should pay attention to the news from the International CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) trade show in Las Vegas earlier in March. Organizers hyped the mobile showcase as \”one of the largest technology events in the world,\” and attracted more than 1,000 exhibitors, including OEMs, service providers, app developers, engineers, and other mobile industry insiders.

While many of the major names in wireless were there, there was one noted exception: Apple. Many experts speculate that it will announce the arrival of the 4G iPhone soon.

Apple\’s absence aside, the latest OS refinements and apps were on display from Google\’s Android partners. Device makers like Palm, HTC, Motorola, and Samsung showed off their newest smartphones. Service providers also vied for attendees\’ attention by touting the latest 4G advancements.

TechnologyGuide and Brighthand editors were also on hand at CTIA, providing both updates and analysis to help consumers interpret the spin.
