Toshiba has announced the launch of the WT310, a Windows 8 Pro tablet aimed at business users. Available in the UK sometime in the second quarter of this year, the WT310 will sport an 11.6-inch 1080p display and will be powered by an unspecified Intel Core processor and an SSD drive.
Toshiba\’s keeping mum on most of the WT310\’s internals, as it hasn\’t specified how much RAM, SSD storage or processing power the slate will have. It did say, though, that the business tablet will come with one USB 3.0 port, one HDMI port, either Wi-Fi b/g/n or a/g/b/n, Bluetooth 4.0, a microSD slot and an option for HSPA+ and LTE connectivity. Weighing 825 grams and measuring at 229 x 189 x 12.4 mm, the WT310 isn\’t the thinnest or lightest machine out there either, but that\’s to be expected.
With this being a business tablet, Toshiba is promising that the WT310 will sport a number of features specifically for productivity-oriented users. It\’ll come with a DigitizerPen stylus, a variety of security and management software including the Trusted Platform Module and Intel\’s Anti-Theft suite, and an optional dock with a Gigabit LAN port for connecting to external devices. Toshiba is also touting the WT310\’s \”resilient plastic coating\” for those who\’ll need to bring their work on the go.
There\’s still no word on a price for the WT310, but given that this is a Windows 8 Pro machine for heavy duty users, don\’t expect anything cheap. Toshiba similarly hasn\’t dished any info on whether or not the slate will arrive outside of the UK, but TechnologyGuide has reached out for further comment and will update this post if it hears back.
