Is getting to market at the right time more important to the success of a mobile app than the quality of the app itself? That’s the question TechnologyGuide sister site SearchCIO recently asked both app developers and CIOs; it’s also one that’s at the heart of a new debate between enterprise IT professionals across the country.
As is typical with these kind of binary debates, SearchCIO received mixed responses. One CIO said, for instance, that it depends on the nature of the app in question. See, different apps have different audiences that have different expectations. Something like a mobile game, say Temple Run 2 or Knights of Pen & Paper, can get away with being slightly flawed at first, since gamers typically anticipate them and are fine with later patches fixing them up. But for filing a claim for an auto accident, the CIO said, perfection is going to be needed from the get go, since that’s an area where there isn’t much room for error.
But that was just one of the multiple ideas given to SearchCIO on this interesting topic. Don’t agree with it? Well then check out SearchCIO’s full report to see what others involved in mobile app development had to say on this great debate.
