Sony has never been a player in the US smartphone market, something the company is looking to change with the Xperia Z smartphone. This Android-powered device will have a large five-inch display, keeping in line with the recent large-screen smartphone craze that includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and LG Optimus G.
Sony used CES 2013 to launch the Xperia Z, and though it hasn’t committed to a launch date or price, it is expected to ship soon. In fact, Sony would not even commit to launching the device in the US at all. Given the spotlight Sony placed on the Xperia Z at CES, it’s all but certain to come Stateside, however.
